Selfish vision.

To be the biggest hospital in locality X.

Somehow, most vision statements are like this. Many organizations’ vision statements indicate their future place or position in the marketplace. They don’t tell you what impact they’ll do to the world. This is why most visions aren’t compelling. They are selfish.

I wonder if hospitals can make it their vision to create a happy and health community. A community where people don’t go to hospitals because they are sick. Where hospitals promote well-being.

That is the kind of vision that everyone will support. You can do the same for your organization.
