Why I’ll Keep Writing (Even If Google Won’t Rank It)

If you’re reading this, thank you. My hope? That you find something useful here. Maybe something that pushes you forward, maybe something you’ll share with someone else who needs it.

I write for workplace professionals, but also for entrepreneurs, teachers, students—anyone who wants to play bigger. I write a lot. Not everything gets published, but what does, I publish with one goal in mind: to help at least one person.

I used to hope every article would go viral. I dreamed of reaching thousands. For years, that was the goal. But as my writing evolved, so did my purpose.

These days, I’m not aiming for hundreds of thousands of views. I’m writing for those who want to play to make a difference. For those who want to do their best, to play their A-game.

I’m not writing because I’ve mastered the A-game. I’m writing because I’m still working on it. Every day. And here’s what I’ve learned: writing has the power to change things. Not just for me, but for everyone who reads it.

Words matter.
They can change how people feel, how they think, and how they act. A well-timed article can shift a perspective, spark an idea, or inspire action. When something goes viral, it changes how people see the world.

But here’s the problem: not everything that spreads is true.

Take the four-circle Venn diagram for Ikigai. You’ve seen it. Simple, powerful, and all over the internet. It makes people think they understand this deep Japanese concept. But here’s the thing: it’s not Ikigai. (I’ll write more about this soon.)

The diagram? Still useful. But it’s not the whole truth. This is why thoughtful writing matters. We’re influenced by what we consume, and I’ve been influenced by things I read too. For years, it shaped my thinking.

Today is October 12, 2024.
If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you’ve seen the change. Before 2019, I wrote shorter posts. Hundreds of them. But here’s the reality—those posts didn’t rank on Google. No one found them.

So, in 2022, I deleted about a hundred articles.

Not because they weren’t valuable, but because no one was reading them. Google doesn’t rank short posts. So, I revised others—adding new ideas, fresh perspectives. But now, I’m done deleting.

I won’t take down any more posts. I’m keeping everything from here on out. Never mind if Google doesn’t rank them. The people who need to find them will. And honestly? I’m curious to see how my writing and thinking evolve.

Here’s what you can expect moving forward:

1. More Useful, Practical Articles
I’ll keep writing articles that are easy to read and actionable. You won’t find fluff here. Every piece will offer something you can apply today.

2. Books and Tools
Most of my writing won’t stay on the blog. I’ll be focusing on creating books and tools you can use. Whether you’re reading here or attending one of my workshops, you’ll have something tangible to take with you.

3. A Focus on the A-game
I’m still on this journey, just like you. I’ll keep sharing what I learn about playing my best, every single day. Not because I’ve figured it all out, but because we’re all in this together. Expect more stories, more lessons, and more actionable steps on how you can play bigger.

4. Honest Reflections
I’m not here to pretend it’s all smooth sailing. I’ll share the highs and the lows, the moments of doubt, the resistance I feel. Because if I’ve learned one thing, it’s this: the hardest part of the A-game is often getting out of your own way.

So, I’ll keep writing. Whether or not the algorithms like it.

Because if one person finds something here that changes how they think, feel, or act—that’s worth more to me than any ranking.
