Lead yourself first so you can lead others.
You can get a degree that will give you extra letters after your name, but your leadership shines through your life. To show others how to live their best lives is to win your own struggles every day. I believe that the most difficult person to lead is oneself.
You know a leader from a mere politician. In the national government, we have more of the latter. They profess one thing and practice another. We address them as “honorables” but they value money more than honor.
This is not to suggest that as a leader you have to be perfect first before you can teach others to lead a better life.
I failed many times in business and in life, and I do not hide my failures.
The most difficult people to lead are your relatives and that is why someone who lead well his or her private life can speak with authenticity and conviction in public.
Start with yourself. Then with your family. Little by little, you’ll become a better leader.
