Help Filipino Entrepreneurs Thrive

Insights, Strategies, and Stories

Hello, I’m Jef Menguin—an entrepreneur and lifelong learner. On this page, I share the ideas, concepts, and strategies that I am learning and applying in my own journey.

Whether you’re just starting out or looking to scale your business, you’ll find practical tips, expert advice, and inspiring stories tailored for Filipino entrepreneurs.

Let’s grow and succeed together.

Why I’m Doing This

I didn’t go through MBA courses. I didn’t even finish my Master’s of Arts in Teaching, where I had 30 units. But when I got my hands dirty in the world of business, I simply loved the discoveries.

I can only share my experiences. I’m not here to tell people what to do. I’m writing to share what I’m learning and what I intend to do. I may share some of my failures as well as my successes.

Today, I’m the CEO of Strategic Learning Consultants, Inc. I’m a speaker, trainer, author, and course designer. But I always think of myself as an entrepreneur who speaks, trains, and writes.

My passion is finding new solutions. I’m not interested in being famous for its own sake. I want to build businesses. That’s what I’m passionate about.

I love listening more than speaking. I love learning from others more than teaching. I love identifying and clarifying answers rather than providing people with solutions regurgitated from others.

Yes, I am an entrepreneur. And for this reason, I started this project to help Filipino entrepreneurs thrive.

What is Entrepreneurship?

Entrepreneurship is more than having a sari-sari store or being a street vendor. It’s more than just running a small business. It starts with a mindset that aims to solve problems.

When I was a street vendor, I sold goods to survive. I wanted to eat on time without having to beg. In high school, I learned that to get more in life, you have to give something of real value.

I saw myself as a salesman for a product worth ten times more than what I got in return.

Eventually, I became a creator, making products so valuable that what people paid was just a fraction of what they received.

This might not be the dictionary definition of an entrepreneur, but it’s how I see it. Entrepreneurs solve people’s problems and give them something they need. We make products they need, even if they don’t realize it yet.

Public speaking isn’t about something; it’s for someone. When I speak, I see myself as an entrepreneur who speaks. I solve problems and provide value through my words.

Why Filipino Entrepreneurs Matter

Entrepreneurship is vital for Filipinos because it allows us to create solutions for our community. It’s not just about making money; it’s about making a difference.

When we start businesses, we provide jobs, improve our local economy, and inspire others to do the same.

Entrepreneurship helps Filipinos by:

  • Creating Jobs: Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. They provide jobs and opportunities for our community.
  • Solving Problems: Entrepreneurs find solutions to everyday problems, making life better for everyone.
  • Empowering Communities: Starting a business empowers individuals and communities. It gives people the chance to take control of their future.
  • Promoting Innovation: Entrepreneurs bring new ideas and innovations to the market, driving progress and development.

Characteristics of Entrepreneurs

Being an entrepreneur isn’t about wearing a suit and having a fancy title. It’s about solving problems, creating value, and making things happen.

Here are ten characteristics that define an entrepreneur.

Entrepreneurs are always asking questions. They want to know how things work and how they can make them better. Curiosity leads to discovery and innovation.

Creativity is about seeing things differently. Entrepreneurs come up with new ideas and find unique solutions to problems. They think outside the box and aren’t afraid to take risks.

Failure is part of the journey. Entrepreneurs don’t give up when things get tough. They learn from their mistakes and keep moving forward. Resilience is key to overcoming challenges.

Passion fuels the entrepreneurial spirit. Entrepreneurs love what they do, and that passion drives them to work hard and persevere. It’s their “why” that keeps them going.

Entrepreneurs make the most out of what they have. They find ways to do more with less and are always looking for opportunities. Resourcefulness helps them navigate through tough times.

Entrepreneurs don’t wait for others to tell them what to do. They set their own goals and are driven to achieve them. Self-motivation keeps them focused and determined.

Entrepreneurs see the big picture. They have a clear vision of what they want to achieve and how to get there. This vision guides their decisions and actions.

The business world is always changing. Entrepreneurs need to be flexible and open to change. They adapt quickly to new situations and are willing to pivot when necessary.

Entrepreneurs make decisions and take action. They don’t get stuck in analysis paralysis. Being decisive helps them seize opportunities and move forward.

Understanding others is crucial. Entrepreneurs listen to their customers and their team. Empathy helps them build strong relationships and create products that people love.

These characteristics help entrepreneurs navigate the ups and downs of their journey.

If you see these traits in yourself, you might just have what it takes to be an entrepreneur. Start small, think big, and keep moving forward.
