What they say
I meet people everyday. Some of them have nice words to say and are very appreciative of what I share during my seminars and workshops. I like to share with you some of the words they share. For those with suggestions on how I can improve my craft, I will welcome your suggestions. Please send send your comments.

Get involve and attend this seminar so that you become more proactive in your teaching. You will become a good mentor and model to people. As teachers, we should continue learning for us to grow, and as we grow we can share it to others.

Jef is a conscientious teacher, mentor, and trainor. A supportive person, he makes his students feel comfortable and subtly pushes his clients to the best they can. His workshops are lively and very enjoyable. Everyone he taught at the Farm at San Benito is thankful for the valuable lessons they learned from him. He is an excellent communicator, speaker and leader.

Sir Jef, your lectures had changed our department’s conferences. We have used your tips here and there with good feedback. In a few days, one of our residents, Dr. Almonte, will be presenting his paper during our society’s convention, and I see in him the confidence of a well trained speaker. Thank you and more power to you!

I recently asked the Fort Bonifacio Toastmasters Club to conduct a speech clinic to the Army dependents. Ms. Malou Samonte, an English teacher of Assumption College and a competent communicator at FBTC was project head. We needed another trainor, one who will also train and the develop the ladies and teenagers from 12 to 22 to overcome their fear of public speaking. And because we knew Mr. Menguin was an excellent trainor and evaluator, we immediately thought of asking Mr. Menguin if he could help. And sure enough, after checking his calendar and finding out if he was free that June 20, he accepted our invitatioin.
June 20 came and during this speech clinic, Mr. Menguin not only trained but also inspired us. There were two statements from him that I remember that were inspiring. The first was "The Filipinos are worth living for." He said he did not believe that the Filipinos were worth dying for...because when we die, you can no longer do anything for anyone or for your country. The second was "For this particular starfish, it matters." This was in reference to a man who was throwing a starfish one by one back to the sea. He believed his actions of throwing back the starfish one by one were not futile because whatever noble actions we will do even though just small will create already a positive impact to the person you will help.
Yes, Mr. Menguin is a person who walks his talk.

I learned valuable lessons from Jef. He is a good speaker and communicator. He makes you laugh. He makes you cry. And he makes you feel good about who you are.

I learned that teachers should know the learning abilities of her students. Let the students participate in the discussion. Support the students who lack self-confidence. Help them to gain confidence.
