Most of us need a big victory to celebrate but a very small failure to get upset. This is a terrible mistake. Big victories don’t happen every day.
Congratulate yourself every time you achieve something that get’s you nearer your goals. It feels good when people congratulate us. But we must understand that people are also busy living their own lives. Motivate yourself by affirming your small victories. Tap your shoulder before someone does. Be the first to motivate yourself.
When I was teaching, I realized that some of my students where never happy with their grades. Ana was not happy getting 98 in technical writing. Her parents wanted her to be on top. She was number 2. Her parents saw her grades as 2% defeat when it was 98% success. Don’t wait for people to appreciate your efforts because some of them are poor in this department. Definitely, you cannot please every one. Don’t deny yourself of the reward you deserve. Again, celebrate small victories. Reward yourself with something you enjoy most for every little success. Remember tha big victories are products of small ones.
And more importantly, as a leader be always alert in celebrating the small victories of those people around you. Sincerely, show them how you appreciate the little things they. Trust me, you will go a long long way.
